LaROUCHE PUPPET Papert
In the mid 1980's, we used to try to organize inner city preachers and have them come up with bodies for rallies and meetings. This followed our success with getting several thousand blacks to DC for a MLK rally which was really about LHL and SDI.
One problem I heard a tiny bit about was a group of kids from PA who came to Leesburg and created a disturbance. What was told to us was that the kids shop lifted from local merchants and caused damages which we paid for with cash. This was not really known by most members and just whispered.
The real story is something Ijust emailed to me by another ex member. It seemed that NEC member Tony Papert was quite into S/M porno when he was in NYC. He had a huge stash of this according to another top member.
Where this is very interesting is that it was revealed that Tony Parpert was arrested in DC with some of the PA youths for "Indecent exposure". The problem was never told to members. A mere handfull of NEC members knew about it. Lyn told them to absolutley keep quiet about and act as if nothing took place and deny.
This has been a well kept secret for 19 years or so.
Any chance one of you know the story?
Any chance one of you know how to do a search for DC police records?
This was so bad that it was a deep secret. There is speculation that a few things involving Papert and younger people took place.I have a few people I will ask about this.
Any way you guys can search and see an arrest warrant or ajudication would be wonderful. The cult was very anti gay and this is onpar with the New Orleans story about Benton and how that was covered up.
BLACK CONGRESSMEN AND LaROUCHE
Taken In by LaRouche?: A prominent congressman is denouncing the organization of extremist political figure Lyndon LaRouche after the lawmaker spoke at a LaRouche function.
Rep. John Conyers of Michigan the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee and a senior member of the Congressional Black Caucus appeared March 23 as featured speaker at an event in Detroit sponsored by the LaRouche Political Action Committee, according to a report on the Web site Politics1.com. Conyers "wasn't aware" that LaRouche has made antisemitic comments, said a Conyers spokesman who declined to be named because he feared being hassled by LaRouche's minions. "He was surprised by them. He's denouncing those comments. He wouldn't speak before those groups until they renounce antisemitism."
The Anti-Defamation League has published reports on what it describes as the antisemitic facets of the politics of LaRouche, a onetime Maoist and perennial fringe presidential candidate whose writings feature conspiracy theories involving Jews and others. LaRouche, who was convicted of tax evasion, denies being an antisemite.
Politics1.com linked to a LaRouche Web site that printed Conyers's speech at the Detroit gathering. It also reported that Mississippi State Rep. Erik Fleming, another black Democrat and so far the only 2006 challenger to Republican Senator Trent Lott, has gone "on LaRouche-sponsored junkets" and "introduced candidate LaRouche at a campaign rally."
The national director of the Anti-Defamation League, Abraham Foxman, said about LaRouche, "There was a time when ignorance was an excuse, but that time had passed: "There's no excuse. The man is a felon, a bigot. His organization is off the wall. It thrives on conspiracy theories. For a person in public life not to have their staff do the work...."
LETTER FROM DEFECTOR
Dear Mordechai Levy,
I just read your statement on the Justice for Jeremiah web site. As someone who was in the group during that period, you made some things clearer for me. Many of us left over the lunacy and the blatant anti-Semitic behavior of leaders. The thing about Helga LaROUCHE was very interesting. We were told that a high-level assassination attempt was conducted against her on the German Autobahn. Some types of darts were fired in to her cars tires with the intent to kill her. LaROUCHE figured out that you could use assassination attempts, as phony as can be, to make someone important in the cult. Many of us left that nuthouse decades ago. What is shocking is how much I read the rantings of LaROUCHE lunacy on different web sites. The guy has himself and his "stunt Jew " or "Trojan Jew" Jeff Steinberg doing media in Arab papers and ghost writing articles in various publications. Steinberg is I believe a half Jew who must amuse people when he rants about Israel.

PAUL GOLDSTEIN
The cult has started up a copy of Hitler Youth called LaROUCHE Youth. Boy this stuff is crazy. The new recruits were born when you were meeting with JS Jeff Steinberg and PG Paul Goldstein. The LA office is the HQ and is run by a formally brilliant guy named Phil Rubenstein. Rubenstein was set to attend John Hopkins and I think become a rabbinical student when he was a teenager. He met the group and has been in for over 30 years. He and Harley Shlanger run the youth group and are always visible to tell people 'We are not anti-Semitic cause we are both Jewish” I remember most Jews in the group leaving because of the lunacy, the ones that were left are pretty much broken down dead enders.

JEFF STEINBERG
Steinberg is quite active in meetings with people who naturally, always have a problem with Israel's survival. You can find his influence in "The Nation" magazine, which has a former LaROUCHE leader on its editorial executive board. Over the past few years you can google LaROUCHE and Arab media or LaROUCHE with something else and find articles with the crazy ideas that Israel pulled off 9/11 to make the US its pawn. There is so much lunacy out there that is originated by the cult.
I with my friends have a question for you. We know who JS and PG are. Goldstein is now in business doing something with the Japanese. Look up "Pacific Tech Bridge" to find him. Who was "TP" in LA and who was "RG"? We are scratching our heads trying to figure that out. Finally, did you ever save the EIR article about you that Paul Goldstein wrote?
From former member who prefers to be anonymous because he or she fears how crazy the cult can become when it starts to believe its own lunacy
POGROMIST SHARPTON CALLS THE NAZI SCUM LaROUCHE A LIBERAL
At a Baltimore debate some candidates froze as LaRouche activists in the audience heckled them for excluding LaRouche. Al Sharpton, no stranger to the power of orchestrated confrontations, won applause when he accused the LaRouche partisans of being phony liberals.

Red Letter Press beats Lyndon LaRouche!
Back in December 2003, Barbara Boyd, a representative of Lyndon LaRouche's bizarre far-right movement, filed a complaint against Red Letter Press with the Federal Elections Commissionan obvious act of retaliation against the publisher of the booklet Lyndon LaRouche: Fascism Restyled for the New Millennium.
Boyd's charges were bogus and easily disproved. First, she falsely claimed that a website called LaRouche Watch was actually an unregistered Political Action Committee acting on behalf of LaRouche's electoral opponents. She then made the wild assertion that since the website included the Fascism Restyled booklet in a list of resources, Red Letter Press must be subsidizing the website. If any of this were true, it would have been a violation of federal election laws.
Helen Gilbert, Managing Editor of Red Letter Press and author of the booklet, responded to the charges. Finally, on September 23, 2004, the FEC issued its findings. The FEC investigators easily came to the conclusion that the website is not a PAC and Red Letter Press has not given money or anything else to it. As the FEC concluded, the LaRouchite claims were speculation unsupported by specific evidence of violation.
Though this case is small in the range of LaRouche's harassment of his opponents, the satisfaction of seeing him beaten at his own game is great!
Text of the ruling follows.

FEDERAL ELECTION COMMlSSION
999 E Street, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20463
FIRST GENERAL COUNSEL'S REPORT
DATE COMPLAINT FILED: December 30, 2003
DATE OF NOTIFICATION: January 7, 2004
DATE ACTIVATED: May 10, 2004
EXPIRATION OF SOL: October 8, 2008
COMPLAINANT: Barbara M. Boyd
RESPONDENTS: LaRouche Watch ; Red Letter Press and Helen Gilbert, as registered agent
I. INTRODUCTION
Complainant, Barbara M. Boyd, a supporter of presidential candidate Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr. ("LaRouche"), asserts that an Internet chat group called LaRouche Watch may be in violation of the registration and reporting requirements of 2 U.S.C. § 433(a), that individuals who contributed funds to it in excess of the statutory limitation at 2 U.S.C. § 441a(a)(1)(C) are in violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended (the "Act"), that Red Letter Press, and Helen Gilbert, as registered agent ("Red Letter Press"), made a corporate contribution to LaRouche Watch in violation of 2 U.S.C. § 441b(a), and that individuals associated with LaRouche Watch may have been engaged in fraudulent misrepresentation of LaRouche.
This Office recommends that the Federal Election Commission ("Commission") find no reason to believe that LaRouche Watch or Red Letter Press violated the Act and close the file. The complaint' s allegations against LaRouche Watch consist of speculation unsupported by specific evidence of violation. For its part, Red Letter Press conclusively refuted the allegations that it made a corporate contribution to LaRouche Watch.
II. FACTUAL AND LEGAL ANALYSIS
A. Background
The complaint alleges that LaRouche Watch is an Internet chat group formed for the purpose of infiltrating and harassing LaRouche's presidential campaign. The complaint states that "to the extent" that LaRouche Watch engaged in these activities and expended more than $1,000, it became subject to the registration and reporting requirements for a political committee and its failure to register or file with the Commission thus places it in violation of 2 U.S.C. § 433(a) 1. One of the LaRouche Watch website links takes the viewer to the website of Red Letter Press and an order form for one of its booklets, Fascism Restyled for the New Millennium. The complaint points to the LaRouche Watch link to Red Letter Press, a Washington state corporation, and asserts that the relationship between the two "raises the suspicion that to the extent that" Red Letter Press subsidized LaRouche Watch, Red Letter Press made a corporate contribution to, or expenditure on behalf of, a political committee in violation of 11 C.F.R. § 114 2. The complaint charges that, "to the extent" that individuals made contributions to LaRouche Watch in excess of the statutory limit at 2 U.S.C. § 441a(a)(1)(C), those individuals violated the law.
Finally, the complaint asserts that, "to the extent" that individuals associated with LaRouche Watch are candidates or involved with candidates for the Democratic or Republican presidential nomination, and cause the LaRouche campaign to be infiltrated, and cause statements to be made that do not represent LaRouche's position, then these individuals have engaged in fraudulent misrepresentation in violation of 11 C.F.R. § 110.16 3. In support, the complaint enclosed printed versions of several LaRouche Watch website pages and links. In a passage from one of those pages, LaRouche Watch tells its supporters to "[b]e kind of crazy when you are working with [members of the LaRouche organization]. Tell people you meet on the street that we have to get rid of all the liberals because they impede American progress and stuff like that." See Complaint, Exhibit B, page 3, paragraph 6.
We were unable to identify the individual(s) who created LaRouche Watch, or the head of the organization or any of its members and so were unable to inform the group that a complaint had been filed against it or notify it of its opportunity to respond.
Helen Gilbert, the Managing Editor of Red Letter Press and the author of Fascism Restyled far the New Millennium, filed an affidavit in response to the complaint in which she stated that Red Letter Press has made no contribution to LaRouche Watch, financial or otherwise. She denied that Red Letter Press expended "funds, labor or anything of value towards the development and maintenance" of the website. She stated: "No proceeds from the sale of any copies of my booklet go to LaRouche Watch, and no copies of the booklet have been provided to LaRouche Watch for resale." In fact, Ms. Gilbert asserted that she did not know that her booklet was listed on the LaRouche Watch website until she received a copy of the complaint from the Commission.
B. Analysis
1. Political Committee Status and Excessive Contributions
The Act requires political committees to register and report to the Commission. 2 U.S.C. §§ 433(a) and 434(a). A political committee is defined as any group of persons that makes expenditures or receives contributions aggregating in excess of $1 ,000 during a calendar year. 2 U.S.C. § 431(4)(A). "Contribution" and "expenditure" are defined as acts taken "for the purpose of influencing any election for Federal office." 2 U.S.C. §§ 431 (8)(A) and (9)(A). The courts have placed a limiting construction on these statutory provisions such that "political committee" obligations may only be imposed, with respect to groups acting independently of candidates or parties, upon organizations whose major purpose is campaign activity, such as the nomination or election of a candidate." See, e.g., Buckley v. Valeo, 424 U.S. 1,79 (1976); FEC v. Massachusetts Citizens for Life, Inc., 479 U.S. 238, 262 (1986).
The LaRouche Watch website, established in October 2003, describes itself as "[t]he group to legally crush" the LaRouche Movement. http://www.geocities.corn/larouchewatch/ (last accessed September 21, 2004). It contains links to a chatroom, a guestbook, and articles and publications critical of LaRouche, including a link to a Red Letter Press order form for Fascism Restyled for the New Millennium. The order form describes the publication as a "brief but detailed study [that] exposes LaRouche's origins and current stance on key issues, and shows how he is using classic fascist manipulation and scapegoating to recruit the disaffected." http://www.redletterpress.org/bookstore/larouche.html (last accessed September 21,2004).
Our examination of the LaRouche Watch website revealed no evidence that LaRouche Watch received contributions or made expenditures of over $1,000 during either 2003 or 2004. It does not solicit contributions; it do es not appear to have received any contributions; and it does not appear to have engaged in any activities that would result in expenditures sufficient to trigger political committee status 4. Disbursements incurred for the purpose of setting up and maintaining the website are minimal: it costs $15 to set up a website on the intemet service provider LaRouche Watch uses and, at most, $11.95 a month to maintain it. See Attachment 1, Geocities Homepage, The Way to Build a Better Website, http://www.geocities.yahoo.com (last accessed September 21, 2004). At this rate, LaRouche Watch would have spent a total of $146.45 for setting up and maintaining its website for the period October 2003 through mid-September 2004.
In order to meet the Act's $1,000 threshold, the complaint appears to rely on the theory that
Red Letter Press made a corporate contribution to LaRouche Watch in connection with sales of Helen
Gilbert's booklet, Fascism Restyled for the New Millennium. However, Helen Gilbert, the Managing Editor of Red Letter Press and the author of the booklet at issue, submitted a sworn affidavit denying any contribution to LaRouche Watch. See Statement of Reasons of Commissioners Thomas, Wold, Elliott, McDonald, Mason and Sandstrom in MUR 4852 (Jorg Wiebe, issued on February 5, 1999) (respondent's submission of prima facie evidence which refuted violation of the Act supported Commission finding of no reason to believe violation committed).
Accordingly, this Office recommends that the Commission find no reason to believe that LaRouche Watch qualifies as a political committee and thus no reason to believe that it violated 2 U.S.C. §§ 433(a) and 434(a) by failing to register or file with the Commission. See Statement of Reasons of Commissioners Mason, Smith, Sandstrom and Thomas in MUR 4960, at p. 3 (Hillary Rodharn Clinton for US Senate Exploratory Committee, issued December 21,2000) ("[P]urely speculative charges, especially when accompanied by a direct refutation, do not form an adequate basis to find reason to believe that a violation of the FECA has occurred.) 5. Because there is no reason to believe that LaRouche Watch qualifies as a political committee, the contribution limits at 2 U.S.C. § 44la(a)(1)(C) do not apply and thus there is no reason to believe any person made an excessive contribution to LaRouche Watch. Finally, based on Red Letter Press' response to the complaint, we recommend that the Commission find no reason to believe that Red Letter Press made a corporate contribution to LaRouche Watch in violation of 2 U.S.C. § 441b(a).
2. Fraudulent Misrepresentation
While the complaint asserts that individual s associated with LaRouche Watch engaged in fraudulent misrepresentation of LaRouche, it puts forward no evidence in support of its claim. In order for an individual to violate 2 U.S.C. § 44lh, first, there must be some communication; the communication must contain fraudulent misrepresentations; and it must be made by candidates or employees or agents of a candidate. Because the complaint proffers no evidence establishing these elements of the violation, in particular, that the alleged misrepresentation was made by a candidate or an employee or agent of a candidate, we recommend the Commission find no reason to believe that there has been any violation of 2 U.S.C. § 441h. See Statement of Reasons in MUR 4960 (Hillary Rodham Clinton).
III. RECOMMENDATIONS
l. Find no reason to believe that LaRouche Watch violated the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended, or Commission regulations in connection with this matter.
2. Find no reason to believe that Red Letter Press, and Helen Gilbert as its registered agent, violated the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended, or Commission regulations in connection with this matter.
3. Find no reason to believe any violation of 2 U.S.C. §§ 441a(a)(1)(C) or 441h occurred in connection with the allegations raised in the complaint in this matter.
4. Approve the appropriate letters.
5. Close the file.

[1] Failure to register with the Commission as a political committee constitutes a violation of 2 U.S.C. § 433(a) and failure to file reports of receipts and disbursements constitutes a violation of 2 U.S.C. § 434(a).
[2] In addition, 2 U.S.C. § 441b(a) prohibits corporate contributions in connection with elections for political office.
[3] Fraudulent misrepresentation by a candidate, or employee or agent of a candidate, of another candidate that is damaging to that other candidate also constitutes a violation of the Act at 2 U.S.C. § 441h.
[4] We were not able to review the discussions that took place in the LaRouche Watch chat group, an internet mechanism for electronic conversation. Access to the chat group is limited to members. However, the chat group's webpage showed that between October 2003 and September 2004, the chat group entertained a total of 136 messages, with the highest number of messages, forty-eight, registered during the month of April 2004. This relatively small number of messages suggests that LaRouche Watch's activity is similarly circumscribed.

NAZI LAROUCHE
DOWN, BUT NOT OUT!
Notorious neo-nazi would be Fuhrer, who many mistakenly thought, "was finished" after his not long enough sentence for credit card fraud. Many, believed, wrongly, that once a nazi goes down to prison, that they become washed up as a nazi leader. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nazis, unlike a corrupt businessman that gets into trouble, do not calculate everything based on financial losses and gains. Neo-Nazis, the ones who live as lavishly as Larouche are Jew-Hating fanatics, whose wanting (Heaven Forbid) to not only see a Holocaust, or violent anti-Semitic attacks in their lifetime. They as sick as they are with hatred of the Jew want to make it happen. This applies to Hitler imitators Larouche, David Duke, and Black Hitler Farrakhan equally. Make no mistake that all these Nazi vermin like getting rich in the process, but going to jail does not disrupt their goal unless it means they are permanently removed, and get a real life sentence.
So, Nazi LaROUCHE is running for office. Make no mistake; LaROUCHE going to prison was a setback, a temporary setback that put Nazi LaROUCHE down, but not out! JDO must now take serious action to derail Nazi LaROUCHE & David Duke, to make sure these Nazi candidates end up down and out, knocked out of any activity ring.
JDO demands Jewish Establishment groups get off their apathy, and fight the fact LaROUCHE is now supposed to get 800,000 dollars tax money as a candidate from the Federal Election Commission. What’s going on at the FEC? Has it turned a blind eye to LaROUCHE as a Nazi cult leader, and convicted con man?
Want to find out JDO's plans? Want to help knock Nazi LaROUCHE right out of the ring? Call 212-252-3383 today!

The JDO has received information from a source within the LaRouche organization the the NCLC was the recipient of funds derived from the sale of gold in possession of the Swiss that was stolen from the victims or Nazism. The cut out for this operation was Francois Genoud. That was why, at one time, LaRouche could afford to buy time on national tv, radio, newspapers etc. to espouse his cryptonazism. When the money ran out LaRouche was forced to use other means to raise funds and ended up in Federal Prison.
In 1932, Francois Genoud briefly met Adolf Hitler. He told Hitler of his great interest in National Socialism, and Hitler shook his hand. Genoud's parents had sent him from Lausanne, Switzerland, to study in Germany at 16 in order to learn discipline. Genoud told this to the Elders: "My views have not changed since I was a young man. Hitler was a great leader, and if he had won the War the world would be a better place.” In 1934 Genoud joined the pro-Nazi Swiss National Front. He traveled to Palestine. There he met the grand mufti of Jerusalem Amin el-Husseini, who spent most of World War II in Germany. El-Husseini considered Genoud a confidant until El-Husseini’s death in 1974, may Allah have mercy on his soul. Genoud traveled to Berlin frequently during the war to see El-Husseini and visited him afterward many times in Beirut. The grand mufti entrusted Genoud with the management of his enormous financial affairs. Genoud was made an honorary SS member, and awarded a Gold Badge by Hitler. A close friend of many of the leaders of the Third Reich, Genoud held the copyrights on the writings of Hitler, Bormann and Goebbels, from which he derived millions of dollars in funds.
The Nazis extracted gold from the teeth of people they executed in death camps and melted it down to sell for the war effort. Allied soldiers found bags of gold fillings from human teeth hidden by the Nazis in Germany at the end of the war. Stacks of gold bars, gold coins, silver, Passover candlesticks, paintings and other assets looted by the Nazis were hidden. Genoud stated: “I was dealing in all kinds of things including currency, diamonds and gold, and my Abwehr Case Officer Dickopf liked dealing, too. So I pushed things his way, and he pushed things my way." At the end of the war, Genoud took this gold from Germany and placed it into Swiss bank accounts. The money was used to finance ODESSA, which helped with the evacuation of key World War II war heroes into Morocco, Egypt, Syria and Latin America.
Genoud had continued contacts with ex-SS men, was prominent in the New European Order, a Nazi-front group, and in 1958, set up the Arab Commercial Bank in Geneva to manage the war chest of the Algerian National Liberation Front (FLN), whose partisans were fighting to free their country from French colonial rule. He also established Arabo-Afrika; an import-export company that served that distributed anti-Jewish propaganda and delivered weapons to the FLN. Several veterans of the Third Reich, including Hitler’s bodyguard, Major General Otto Ernst Remer, smuggled the weapons to our Algerian brothers, while other Nazis provided military instruction. Genoud made investments in Islamic Africa for Hjalmar Schacht, the former Nazi Reichsminister of Finance, president of the Reichsbank and a key postwar intermediary between Germans and the Elders of Islam. When Algerian independence was proclaimed in 1962, Genoud became director of the Arab Peoples' Bank in Algiers, as did Schacht. Genoud was later arrested in Algeria for transferring $15 million of FLN money to a Swiss bank. Gamal Abdel Nasser got Genoud out of Algeria without a trial, and he never returned. After a 15-years of litigation in a Swiss court, the money was returned to Algeria.
On February 21, 1972 a Lufthansa Boeing 747 bound for Frankfurt was ready for takeoff in Bombay when PFLP hijackers took the plane hostage. Among the 188 passengers was Joseph Kennedy, 19-year-old son of assassinated Senator Robert F. Kennedy. Wadi Haddad formulated this operation. The February 21, 1972 Lufthansa operation was carried out with the assistance of Francois Genoud, who drove to Cologne carrying the letter with the ransom demand. After sending the letter to Lufthansa and to news agencies, Genoud took off for vacation in the Belgian Ardennes. "The amount of money demanded of Lufthansa was very high. Too low a number would have made us lose credibility. Too high a number might have made the operation fall through, especially considering how quickly the money had to be produced.” Genoud finally confessed, after a 20 year statute of limitations gave him immunity from prosecution. But, none-the-less, in February 1996 the Swiss attorney general summoned Genoud to Bern to explain his role in the hijacking why had he been in contact with terrorist Carlos the Jackal since the early 1970s.
Genoud allocated the resources of the al Taqwa Bank and the Nada Group to support Vladimir Ilich Ramirez, alias Carlos the Jackal and then paid French attorney Jacques Verges to defend Carlos. He paid Verges for defending Klaus Barbie and also covered the legal expenses of Adolf Eichmann before an Israeli court in 1961. He also subsidized Khomeini's prolonged exile in France when Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi governed Iran. He paid for the legal defenses of the Baader-Meinhoff group. " A French court implicated Wahid Gordji, an official in the Iranian embassy in Paris, in bombing attacks that killed 13 persons in Paris in 1986. A pro-Iranian Islamist network carried out these attacks. Genoud formed a defense committee for Gordji, who was a translator at the Iranian Embassy.
Genoud had ties to the family of Osama. Much of the bin Laden group's international activities took place in the Geneva offices of Saudi Investment Company, managed by Yeslam bin Laden. Board members include Baudoin Dunant. Baudoin Dunant represented Francois Genoud when Genoud was on trial for participation in international terrorism.
Genoud narrowly escaped a Mossad assassination attempt in October 1993 when a bomb exploded in front of the door to his home and he was aware that Zionist circles of inquiry were closing in on him. Genoud committed suicide on May 30, 1996 shortly after Jewish leaders and Swiss banking officials announced an unprecedented agreement to set up a commission to examine secret bank and government files to search for funds deposited in Switzerland by Jews who had been exterminated by Hitler. Paul Volker was to head this investigation.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- An Arabic language satellite television station Thursday previewed an interview with two top al Qaida leaders filmed secretly in Karachi, Pakistan.
Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and Ramzi Binalshibh, who served in Osama bin Laden's network, spoke to the al Jazeera news channel from a hidden location in an interview that the station says will be continued next week.
Al Jazeera, based in Qatar, interviewed the two for its program "Top Secret," after al Qaida operatives brought the interviewer blindfolded to a Karachi apartment. Mohammed met him at the door and took him down a long hallway to Binalshibh, who was ensconced on the floor of a small room.
In the second part of the investigative program, the station says the two will speak publicly for the first time about last September's suicide hijacking attacks on New York and Washington.
Shortly after the attacks, in which four U.S. jetliners were hijacked and crashed into the twin towers of New York's World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in rural Pennsylvania, U.S. officials charged that bin Laden was the mastermind of the plot that carried out by cells of al Qaida. Just over 3,000 people died in the attacks.
Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, a Kuwaiti citizen, who is on the FBI's most-wanted list and has a $25 million bounty on his head, undertook a central planning role in the attacks, according to U.S. officials. In addition, he was indicted in 1996 for allegedly plotting the year before to use explosives on airliners flying to the United States from Southeast Asia.
Ramzi Binalshibh, according to an indictment from German authorities, was part of a Hamburg-based cell, preparing the hijacking attacks. The United States sent out a worldwide alert for Binalshibh after they unearthed a videotape of him that U.S. officials said was found in an al Qaida leader's house in Afghanistan. He purportedly delivered a martyrdom message on that tape. He is also on the FBI's most-wanted list.
Al Jazeera said in advance of the program that the two men in the interview described in detail how al Qaida planned and carried out the attacks on what they call "Holy Tuesday." The interviews were conducted recently, the station said. It did not specify when, and did not explain how footage for the program -- including video pictures of the blindfolded interviewer in a car and climbing the staircase to the apartment -- was shot.
In a statement distributed Thursday, al Jazeera said the men interviewed were the head of al Qaida's military committee and the coordinator of the Sept. 11 operation.
The "Top Secret," program also included interviews with Lyndon LaRouche, the controversial conspiracy theorist and editor of Executive Intelligence Review, French author Thierry Meyssan, who has penned a book questioning the U.S. government's account of the Sept. 11 attacks, former CIA chief of counter-terrorism operations, Vince Cannistraro, who said he actually saw American Airlines Flight 77 hit the Pentagon, and the father of Mohammed Atta, who is thought to have been the leader of the 19 hijackers.
Atta's father, an Egyptian lawyer interviewed in Cairo, charged that the United States was behind the disappearance of his son and said the U.S. government had hatched a conspiracy to blame Muslim fundamentalists for the attacks in New York and Washington.
Thursday's program was monitored in Washington by United Press International. Al Jazeera says the second part will air in one week, on Sept. 12.
